WHAT IS SRT?

Self-Regulation Training (SRT) is an efficient, practical and naturalistic way of healing the effects of stress and trauma.  Created by Dr. Regalena Melrose, it is an approach greatly influenced by the Somatic Experiencing trauma-healing approach of Dr. Peter Levine.

 

SRT is a gentle approach that brings the power of co-regulation and somatic tools to enable the body to naturally heal and reverse the effects of stress, anxiety and trauma, by supporting the body to release over-activation.

 

By combining elements of stress and trauma with ones’ strengths and resources, a new more complete experience is created, thus generating new and more powerful neural pathways in the brain.  This in turn, allows for new and a greater repertoire of emotional and behavioural choices (Dr. Regalena Melrose).

 

Through SRT, one gains skills to self-regulate one’s nervous system and the ability to show up in day to day life as one’s “best self”.

LAURA LEITMAN

CERTIFIED SRT & TT PRACTITIONER

Laura Leitman is a Certified SRT and Transforming Touch® Practitioner dedicated to helping clients access their innate capacity for healing through body-based approaches. Her somatic journey began after personally experiencing the effectiveness of somatic work in navigating stress and trauma. This led her to train in Self Regulation Training (SRT) with Dr. Regalena Melrose and in Transforming Touch® with Dr. Steven Terrell.  

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto and spent 20 years practicing as a Registered Occupational Therapist before following her calling into somatic healing work.

 

Based in Toronto, Laura supports clients both in her home studio and online via Zoom. She also offers Somatic Workshops for individuals and groups seeking to enhance mind-body wellness, restore emotional balance, and build greater capacity for regulation.
